Major Drop in Rankings , Any Explanation ?

Here are the major factors why a page drop in rankings. Enjoy !

Database Maintenance - This is one of the reasons sites seem to disappear from Google is that they are regularly doing DB maintenance. If they pull a data base offline for maintenance and there’s no redundant backup switched on to replace it, or it gets replaced with an older version, some sites in that database will appear to disappear from the listings. That’s part of the reason people panic and rumors of an algo change start circulating.

Duplicate Websites - A duplicate website is a website that has many if not all of the same pages as another live website. So why is it such a bad idea ? Well , this is because the search engines don't like Duplication . The major search engines are constantly trying to improve the quality of their search engine results in an effort to provide the best quality content for users. When duplicate website is indexed by search engine spiders, valuable time and processing power is wasted . Therefore , it will block all the websites that have duplicate content from getting index . The question i suppose many will ask is 'How does it knows who duplicate who ' ? Well.. i presume that the website which had the content first will be index . Meaning..if you had the content first , you will be index in the search engines and the rest will be block .In addition, the major search engines have a bad experience after dealing with so much duplicate content created by spammers over the past several years. As a result, posting a duplicate website is an offense that can quite literally blacklist a domain .

Duplicate Content - content appearing within a website that is duplicated elsewhere on the same website or elsewhere on the Internet. You cannot just copy and paste others people content and put it in your websites . You can only do that if you include the original author name and a link back to his site .The search engines are very good in detecting duplicate content , once they found there are duplication , they will flag the page or it will be ignore at the very least . The page could even devalue your site's overall credibility. Credibility is a critical component of Google's algorithm so sites with less credibility tend to have a harder time staying in a particular ranking.

Relevancy - The other common reason for it is that your site is not relevant enough, and has many competing web sites that are considered more relevant. Since a search engine can't index the whole internet your site might reside on the edge of the inclusion criteria. The search engine drops your site one month, while it picks it up another.

What is the solution to this search engine listing problem?

You should make your site more relevant by optimizing it for search engines. Not only will it guarantee a continuous listing, it will also give your site higher ranks. Increasing relevance can be achieved in many different ways. (at least a hundred!) One of the most important ones is to get links to your site from important relevant sites.
